Savannah, GA
This is the perfect place to visit for a weekend getaway! When I traveled to Savannah GA, I wanted to get away for the weekend from work and from being a mom. You heard that right. As a single mom of two, life will get a little tough and stress is doubled with the amount of work you do and all the time and energy spend on your children. It’s very important to have a break sometimes. It Doesn’t mean I don’t love my kids, it’s just one of those things we have to do as a single parent to take care of ourself mentally and physically.
Anyways, visiting this place was magical! Loved every moment of it. Historic places and buildings are some of my favorite scenes. This place can get a little busy sometimes, but it’s a huge load of fun. Old antique stores are all over the place, especially around River street. Behind river street, there’s Factors walk. If I had a second person traveling with me, I would have had them take so many pictures. It’s very unique and worth stopping by for a little photo session. I never got the chance to go to the museums, but I was told by someone that this area was filled with art schools nearby, so is nothing but old arts and crafts!!!
I decided to stay at Hotel Indigo Savannah Historic District. The reason why I chose this hotel was that it was very close to River Street. I’m glad I chose this place. The front desk customer service was perfect. The room I chose was even more perfect. Although the building was outdated, they used it and incorporated it with a little hint of modern design. Whoever designed this hotel should get a raise. Yes, the area I stayed in was a little busy, but you couldn’t tell that if if you stayed there. After checking into the hotel, I wanted to eat and watch a little football. I was visiting during the preseason, so I needed to have a little dose of football and beer during lunch. A couple of blocks away from the hotel, I checked out PS Tavern. I don’t know why, but on that day I only wanted fries and chicken nuggies! But their serving size seemed like they were supposed to be feeding two grown men. The food well and I had a wonderful time watching a little football.
I did forget to mention a little advice; wear comfortable shoes, I suggest even running shoes. This is not a place to wear your stilettos! If you choose to do so, I promise you will be returning home with a broken ankle.
Nightlife is spectacular as well. It’s not as obnoxious as New Orleans and that’s personally my type of outing. I absolutely love the calm environment. However, St Patrick’s day can be a little crazy in savannah GA., so plan your visit wisely! I ate dinner at “The Cotton Exchange Tavern”. Although the place was packed, the restaurant served amazing steak. The portions were huge, so I ended up returning to the hotel with to-go boxes full of food. Overall, this restaurant definitely deserves a BIG 5 STARS! The restaurant is located on River Street.
The next morning I woke up during sunrise! Because I stayed close to the river, I took a nice long walk. Talk about peace and quiet! Watching the sunrise was amazing and breathtaking! If you live close to the area, I would recommend visiting this area for sure!
