New Year’s Resolution

Here we go again with the new year’s resolutions. It’s that time of the year where some of us will make unrealistic goals. One of my favorite things that most people try to commit to is fitness. At the start of the year, everyone is at the gym, then people gradually stop going. By end of February, the gym would be empty because everyone received their tax returns. If this isn’t the truth, you don’t live in the United States. However, I am not here to break anyone’s heart. I’m posting this because I was that person for years. So instead of writing about bad habits, I am going to write about how to succeed your new year’s resolution.

Plan it!

What we fail to do for our new years resolution is that we never plan for it. We always decide during new year’s eve that we want to lose weight but yet we don’t plan on how to achieve that goal. Now its not always about getting fit. Some of us had a rough year and want to be a better version of ourselves. At the end of the day, we all need to plan what we want to achieve.

I learned that I procrastinate so much that it would ruin my reputation and the will to work for that goal. “I’ll go to the gym tomorrow and work out longer.” That’s the mindset that we have to remove coming 2021. What I did to overcome that mindset was that I forced myself to do what I needed to do. My calendar on my Iphone is full of reminders and alarms, that way when I get distracted, I will always remember. I will usually have about 5 reminders on a daily basis. If you took an hour of your time once a week to plan out your goals it will surely payoff. Soon it will become the new norm and won’t need a reminder.

I always kept a planner for so many reasons. Yeah, I know, it’s about to be 2021 so why am I still writing my plans on a piece of paper? We all have other things in life to worry about including paying bills, kids school, soccer games, etc.. It’s a lot to remember everything that needs to be done on a daily basis, and sometimes the calendar on my Iphone isn’t visually friendly when making plans, so having a whole month calendar on my desk always helped me. Especially when you have to plan around kids and the spouse. This always kept me organized.

TRYING TO LOSE WEIGHT?

Losing weight has been on everyone’s list. After eating all the tasty food during the holidays, we all seem to get a little fluffy. Not only do we desire to lose weight, but bikini season is around the corner for some of us, so it’s time to get that sexy back. Here are the questions we will be asking ourselves; How do I lose weight or get my bikini body back? I am not a nutritionist or fitness trainer, but I know for a fact that if you are wanting to shed some weight, we all have to start eating healthier. Everyone has different types of diets, whether its Keto diet or becoming a vegetarian. What ever the case is start that diet and stick to it. Just because your friends are going to “Five Guys” and decided to order a burger and a milkshake, you don’t have to do as well. That is the beginning of end of your new year’s resolution if you give in! Learn how to stick to your strict diet for at least a month or two. Once you see the little changes on your body you will eventually stick to it without feeling the peer pressure.

Working out also helps this process go a little faster. Great Nutrition and Fitness goes hand in hand. Like I said above, these topics aren’t my profession and I am only telling you what has worked for me. Although I did not wait until new year’s day, however my body has changed a lot since September 2020. I normally go to the gym 5-6 days a week and lift weights. My goals were simply to become stronger. After a month at the gym my body felt the need to hit the gym and now I can’t live without it. My goals are probably different from everyone but make sure to set goals at the gym as well. NEVER GIVE UP!

Be a better version of yourself

I know I had a rough year. I think most of us are so excited for 2021 and ready for this year to end. Bad news buttercup, but things won’t change if you don’t change. Just because the date changed, we can’t assume that some miracle man will come and fix all of our problems. I wish that was the case but it isn’t. Being a better version of yourself comes in many forms.

This year, I want to become happier. The reason behind this is because I have noticed that when I’m not happy, I lose track of what’s important around me. Some days, I may have a bad day for no reason and lose energy to want to do things with my children. When I’m happy, I am up running all over the place. That also includes all the laughter that my children and I share. Our moods does define our day.

Going above and beyond for my business has always been my goal last year. I didn’t do as well and from my experience and learning from my past routine, I learned that I was not consistent. So this year, I am going to do what It takes to do what I call above and beyond even if I have to lose sleep.

Try something out of your comfort zone

Why not? Most of us live to work, eat, and sleep. Why not try a new hobby? I always loved photography and videography, but never took the time to learn how to use my camera correctly. I had my camera since 2015 and began to use my camera more often after four years. Now, I can’t live without my camera and carry it everywhere I go. It also that hobby turned into a business. You just never know what will happen if you don’t try something new.

Single and ready to start dating? I can tell you now that Tinder or Bumble is not always the best way to meet new people. Get out of your comfort zone and start reaching out to old friends. Meet new people through friends. Yeah, it’s cool to meet new friends through social media, but it’s not the same as meeting people in person. I love to connect with people in person rather than text.

I have seen many people looking into social media to detox. In my opinion, that seems like a great idea. If it wasn’t for my photography business, I would follow the trend. I did take a day without social media and I realized I was bored out of my mind and was completely relying on social media for entertainment. I love social media, but it does take away a lot of time from family and we lose focus. Some of us are wanting to remove social media just for the sole purpose of getting away from drama. I don’t blame anyone for wanting to remove social media out of their life. It is taking way too much of our precious time.

Finance

Now that we all spent so much money during the holidays, let’s talk money. Most of us are still struggling from the pandemic and accumulated unforeseen debt. Yeah, we might be getting that extra $600 second stimulus check, but of course some of us have a bigger debt than $600. So let’s talk about making plans on how we getting out of this pandemic debt or even just having a little extra savings on the side.

To get out of debt, every penny counts. If your goal for 2021 is to completely get out of debt, it can be done depending on how deep your debt is. However, the sooner you work on it, the faster you will get out of it. Eating out can be costly, but meal prepping does play a big role especially when you have a busy house hold. You have to learn to distinguish your needs and wants. I quickly realized that I spent way too much on amazon on careless items. Over all, if we stick to budgeting everything you buy through out the month, It can save you hundreds of dollars.

Check what you are subscribed to. I am very guilty of having every movie streaming app. (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime movies, and Disney Plus). I love watching movies and shows but spending over $50 a month on just streaming was a bit ridiculous. So instead, my family and I decided to split the streaming app cost and had each others account. That way we weren’t spending extra money on something that we all had. That also goes for any other apps you are paying to subscribe. Now a days, there is always a loop hole and can save little money here and there to put it towards your debt.

LET IT GO

New years new me is everyone’s moto. I also feel that in order to do that, we have to let go of our past. By doing so, it will feel more like a new beginning. I had people in my life who has crushed me down to the bear bone. I also learn to forgive anyone who crosses my path the wrong way. We can’t start our 2021 still having grudges against people. Your mood will never change an year won’t start well. The faster we learn that we control our own happiness and our feelings, the easier life becomes. From my own example, I was so disappointed at my ex husband for years and every year passed my life didn’t change for the better. When I learned to forgive (NOT FORGET), things got better in life.

For those who has lost people this year or even couple years ago, It’s okay to let it go. As covid-19 hit this world, many of us lost someone in our life and sometimes its hard to move on. Even if everything reminds you of that person, it’s okay to let it go and live your life to the fullest. No one is here to judge if you are happy after a death of someone. Of course it’s okay to let it out and cry sometimes but it’s not necessary for anyone to feel down all the time. Our loved ones didn’t leave this beautiful world for us all to suffer. It’s 2021 by the time anyone is reading this post. Let’s make 2021 even a better year and leave 2020 with a bang!
